Man, I'm mentally exhausted. I'll get back to my day earlier....for now I'll write about my night at work. I was in the process of counting my till when the owner, Denise, called. I'm not sure what her original intention was in calling me...but it got WAYYYY out of hand fast. First off, she knew that at the time she was calling, would be the busiest time of the night (happy hour and shift change-over). She started off by telling me that she's going to give Elizabeth another chance.

I'm thinking, "You gotta be kidding!!!!!" Then she went on and on about stupid stuff that didn't pertain to the bar and it got out of hand fast at that point. She started cussing (which is not the norm) and then I began to cry and told her that I didn't think it was fair that I've been doing a kick-ass job and have to suffer for it, while Elizabeth is the biggest slacker and keeps getting chances. Now I'm being yelled and cussed at and I gotta tell ya, I was about to quit. The manager, Liz, has threatened to quit over this whole mess too, I might add. Anyway, I said it wasn't right to make me cry right before my shift and that I had to tend to customers. She yelled some stuff and hung up. While all this was going on....Mike came into the kitchen with his mouth open. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. Noone has stood up to Denise before like that. Ella, a customer, even came back to the kitchen to see if I was ok. When I came out to the bar, everyone was quite and looking at me. I apologized and started serving drinks. Meanwhile....Denise calls Liz to rant and rave. Liz and I are on the same page and basically Denise was starting to wind down. I think she realized she was in the wrong. She just feels irritated that she's trying to run a bar from across the state. Her ex, DeWayne, my other boss came to her house while she was on the phone with Liz, so she hung up. I don't know what DeWayne and her talked about....but after about 20 minutes after she hung up from me...she called me back. Right off the bat she apologized and so did I. Me, mainly because I was ashamed at how I reacted to her outburst. I'm not perfect but at my age, I want some respect. We talked briefly, she said she'll run a help wanted ad in wednesday's paper and she hopes that I'll continue to stay on and do a good job. Basically to hang tight.

So, Elizabeth will continue to work there till we can replace her (hopefully w/o her knowing we're looking). Good luck there. So...I went to work in a really good mood that only lasted for about 2 minutes. After all the drama, I regained my composure around 8pm. It was slow, so I started getting ready to close. I usually shut my grill off at 9pm and then shut the fryers off at 10pm. I wanted to be outta there at 11pm. About 8:55pm a guy walked in and asked if I was still cooking. He was cute so I said "sure". Well, he mentioned he had his kids with him.

There's a sign on the door stating minors can be in a certain area of the bar with their parents till 9pm. He seemed nice, so I said....yeah, why not? He came back with his wife and 2 kids. I gave them drinks and menus and took their order. 3 chicken fried steaks w/ gravy and a cheeseburger with salad. Not a quick order to make but I didn't mind doing it. I went back to make small talk and then it happened! Small talk led to what nationality I am. I told him what tribe I'm from and that I'm also a little bit Hawaiian (cuz that was their first guess). Then I told them where I grew up (cuz they thought I had an accent). Come to find out....he and I grew up in the same small town and I had actually had a HUGE crush on him for years! We go wayyyyy back! Once I looked at him close up, YUP, it sure was the same sweet Scotty! His wife laughed and wanted to know details. They stayed for a couple hours and it was bliss catching up! His sister was my dance teacher. His Dad owned the restaurant that my Dad and I ate at every night. He went to school with my brother. OMG! It made my whole night! We exchanged information and promised to keep in touch. What started off as a bad night turned out so awesome. Gosh, I realize I've been typing for awhile....so I guess I'll give you a preview of what my day was like....and I'll write more in a little while. I went "Tubing" down the river for the first time ever! A BLAST!!!! In my next post I'll talk about that and what my thoughts are on "Rock of Love w/ Bret Michaels" on VH1. I just got done watching the 1st episode. For those who don't know or remember....I know and adore Brat, as I like to call him. We go back about 22 years. More on all that later. POISON rocks! BTW, sorry Dale Jr. You're time is coming baby! Congrats to Tony Stewart. I'll write more in awhile. Gotta take a break. Smooches
