Hand on Heart

 Monday afternoon

Well, I slept ok last night. I just need to do my job at work and let Denise figure out what she wants to do with Elizabeth. Meanwhile, it's going to be a little awkward between us. The thing she was supposed to be fired over was pretty big, in my book. She knows that her significant other is not supposed to gamble (do pull tabs) in the bar. She isn't supposed to either. I've seen her do it and warned her. She knows the rules. Well, friday night her live-in boyfriend was in the bar doing pull tabs, she was bartending and letting him. He won $599 ~ Well, that didn't go over too well, it's a trust issue, also it's breaking the rules. Denise told her to bring the money back. Then she was supposed to be fired. The money was returned after a few days and she wasn't fired. That's just some of the drama going on at work. I'm going to stay out of it, do my job but always be prepared. Just a minute ago I researched a one-way plane ticket to Anchorage. Pretty cheap, actually. Just a fleeting thought for now though. I'm going to continue to save my money. Alright....let's change the subject. I went tubing down the river with Liz, her Mom and another gal yesterday. It took 3 hours and we all had a blast! Lots of people were tubing, it was nice out and I can't wait to do it again. An Eagle flew overhead and landed on a tree to watch us float by, magnificent! I also saw 2 deers cross the river ahead of us. I used mass sunscreen and don't feel too bad today....my arms are sore from paddling. OK....now onto "Rock of Love w/ Bret Michaels". If you don't already know...he's the lead singer of POISON. The show is hilarious! 21 crazy chicks are vying for Bret's attention. It's sort of like Flaver of Love. Some of these girls have some alcohol issues but Bret's totally working it! He kept the most insane one on....just for the entertainment. I can't wait to watch future episodes! Back in my late teen years I was lucky enough to hang with Bret and the rest of the band. He's the sweetest guy and I miss him dearly! Before I moved to Alaska, he and I had a "fake wedding". He put a gold plated ring on my finger and everything. Well, weeks later, it turned my finger green but I refused to take it off. Talking to him on the phone, he talked me into taking it off....before my finger got infected. I told him someday he'd have to get me a real gold ring. Years went by and we stayed in contact. I'd visit Hollyweird. I'd surprise him, come up behind him, cover his eyes and say "Who's your favorite wife??" and he'd always say my name! Those were the days! I can't wait to run into him again someday. Alright....I'm cleaning my room and doing laundry today before work. It's in the mid-90's this week, 10 degrees cooler than last week. I hope everyone has a great week! Peace & Love Trixie

 Just got off work-sunday shift

Man, I'm mentally exhausted. I'll get back to my day earlier....for now I'll write about my night at work. I was in the process of counting my till when the owner, Denise, called. I'm not sure what her original intention was in calling me...but it got WAYYYY out of hand fast. First off, she knew that at the time she was calling, would be the busiest time of the night (happy hour and shift change-over). She started off by telling me that she's going to give Elizabeth another chance. I'm thinking, "You gotta be kidding!!!!!" Then she went on and on about stupid stuff that didn't pertain to the bar and it got out of hand fast at that point. She started cussing (which is not the norm) and then I began to cry and told her that I didn't think it was fair that I've been doing a kick-ass job and have to suffer for it, while Elizabeth is the biggest slacker and keeps getting chances. Now I'm being yelled and cussed at and I gotta tell ya, I was about to quit. The manager, Liz, has threatened to quit over this whole mess too, I might add. Anyway, I said it wasn't right to make me cry right before my shift and that I had to tend to customers. She yelled some stuff and hung up. While all this was going on....Mike came into the kitchen with his mouth open. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. Noone has stood up to Denise before like that. Ella, a customer, even came back to the kitchen to see if I was ok. When I came out to the bar, everyone was quite and looking at me. I apologized and started serving drinks. Meanwhile....Denise calls Liz to rant and rave. Liz and I are on the same page and basically Denise was starting to wind down. I think she realized she was in the wrong. She just feels irritated that she's trying to run a bar from across the state. Her ex, DeWayne, my other boss came to her house while she was on the phone with Liz, so she hung up. I don't know what DeWayne and her talked about....but after about 20 minutes after she hung up from me...she called me back. Right off the bat she apologized and so did I. Me, mainly because I was ashamed at how I reacted to her outburst. I'm not perfect but at my age, I want some respect. We talked briefly, she said she'll run a help wanted ad in wednesday's paper and she hopes that I'll continue to stay on and do a good job. Basically to hang tight. So, Elizabeth will continue to work there till we can replace her (hopefully w/o her knowing we're looking). Good luck there. So...I went to work in a really good mood that only lasted for about 2 minutes. After all the drama, I regained my composure around 8pm. It was slow, so I started getting ready to close. I usually shut my grill off at 9pm and then shut the fryers off at 10pm. I wanted to be outta there at 11pm. About 8:55pm a guy walked in and asked if I was still cooking. He was cute so I said "sure". Well, he mentioned he had his kids with him. There's a sign on the door stating minors can be in a certain area of the bar with their parents till 9pm. He seemed nice, so I said....yeah, why not? He came back with his wife and 2 kids. I gave them drinks and menus and took their order. 3 chicken fried steaks w/ gravy and a cheeseburger with salad. Not a quick order to make but I didn't mind doing it. I went back to make small talk and then it happened! Small talk led to what nationality I am. I told him what tribe I'm from and that I'm also a little bit Hawaiian (cuz that was their first guess). Then I told them where I grew up (cuz they thought I had an accent). Come to find out....he and I grew up in the same small town and I had actually had a HUGE crush on him for years! We go wayyyyy back! Once I looked at him close up, YUP, it sure was the same sweet Scotty! His wife laughed and wanted to know details. They stayed for a couple hours and it was bliss catching up! His sister was my dance teacher. His Dad owned the restaurant that my Dad and I ate at every night. He went to school with my brother. OMG! It made my whole night! We exchanged information and promised to keep in touch. What started off as a bad night turned out so awesome. Gosh, I realize I've been typing for awhile....so I guess I'll give you a preview of what my day was like....and I'll write more in a little while. I went "Tubing" down the river for the first time ever! A BLAST!!!! In my next post I'll talk about that and what my thoughts are on "Rock of Love w/ Bret Michaels" on VH1. I just got done watching the 1st episode. For those who don't know or remember....I know and adore Brat, as I like to call him. We go back about 22 years. More on all that later. POISON rocks! BTW, sorry Dale Jr. You're time is coming baby! Congrats to Tony Stewart. I'll write more in awhile. Gotta take a break. Smooches Trixie Earnhardt

 Saturday night

I just got off work a little bit ago. It was a pretty slow night. I figure everyone is at that town that's having a celebration. I went friday and it was a blast. It was so hot though. I had fun with the gals I went with. I spent too much money on drinks though. Oh well. It's not like I go out alot. I was asked to go "tubing" today but I felt like staying in. I watched some movies and just took it easy. I'll go tubing tomorrow for a few hours. Well, big news at work (although not unexpected). Elizabeth is getting fired. That means I'll be putting in extra hours until we hire someone else. That'll look good on my paycheck! The owner, Denise, says I've been doing a great job and that she's noticed a rise in business on the days I work. I let her know that Mike has been saying negative things about me at work with his buddies. She said she'd talk to him. She saays she'll handle things one at a time, that right now she's trying to find someone to replace Elizabeth. My friend "O" wants to bartend there, so I'm going to put in a good word for her. She's pretty shy though. She's a hard worker and I'd welcome that! Oh, I saw Greg on tv tonight, briefly. Dang ~ He looks good! Great, as a matter of fact! I can't wait to see him in person. One of these days. Well, I'm going to unwind now. I hope y'all have a fantabulous weekend! Go Junior go! I'll be lazily floating down the river during the race. Hopefully I'll be able to catch some of it. Ta-ta-buh-bye ~~~ Trixie Earnhardt

Be careful what you ask for...

I just gotta laugh. Last night I wanted it to be a little busy and boy was it! Then when I had to fill in tonight for Elizabeth, I wanted it to be slow and sure enough..... . Yawn! I worked 5 hours and it was ok. I had fun. It was slow though. Anyway...I'll have tomorrow off ~ Yah! I'm supposed to go to a town celebration in the morning for the town that's about 30 miles away. I need to hit the sack if I'm gonna get up. They'll be here at 8:30am. It's supposed to be 105 degrees. Ugh. I did mention they had a beer garden, lol. I'm thinking, since I covered Elizabeth tonight, she owes me one. I want to go to Spokane with Liz to see "Walking with Dinosaurs". Anybody ever hear of this show? It promises to be awesome! Well, beddie-bye time. G'nite my babies ~ Trixie

 No rest for the wicked

Well, I just got called into work. Elizabeth said she won't be in. Liz has been working since 9 am, Mike won't cover (naturally) so I'm the only one left. I'm doing it to help Liz. I hope Elizabeth gets canned for this. The owner, Denise, just called me to ask me to come in. She also asked me what I felt about Elizabeth. I told her the truth and said that she's lazy and doesn't do her duties and it leaves everybody else in a bad way. Denise appreciated my honesty and said I'd be earning time and a half tonight. Soooooo, it's 100 degrees out and I'm already sweaty again. I took a shower this morning but need to take another quickie. I just saw Craig briefly, he's heading over to the bar. I hope tonight isn't as hectic as last night. Alrighty, talk to ya later. Peace my babies ~ Trixie
