Hand on Heart

Holy Cow do I ache this morning!!! It's my first weekend at the bar, so I'm basically "in training". Well, friday was kinda slow...so it was ok. The owner pretty much sat at the bar and watched me worked. He's cool. Afterwards he helped me clean. I got home around 3:00am with about $64 in tips. THEN.....I worked last night with him...mind you, it was his birthday and it's his last weekend in town, so he got absolutely TWISTED! He left early on. The cook left around 9:00pm and there I was....all by my lonesome. Needless to say, I got slammed! I had to deal with a couple fights, someone puked all over the men's room and I kept running out of glasses that I needed. I also was running out of $1's and quarters. I had to cut certain people off and it didn't help that they were the boss's buddies. I had stuff torn from the wall, a guy slammed his fist through a partition and there was broken glass to clean. I thought I was gonna go crazy. I called last call at 2:00am. Around that time a bunch of guys went outside to fight and everyone else cleared out to watch it. I locked the doors then and there. By the time I got the place cleaned up and everything re-stocked etc., it was 5:30am. I rode my bike home and was asleep by 6:00am. It was a nice 2 hours of sleep and that's all I'll probly get today. I go back to work tonight at 4:45pm but if it's slow, I get to close at 10:00pm. All in all, I think I handled it well. I made $200 in tips in 2 nights, so I'm happy pappy. The quicker I make money and save it, the quicker I can move into my own place. I like staying here but I don't like living out of a suitcase, so to speak.
OK, let's get down to the good stuff. I'll try to give the short version. Back in 1999, when I was doing the phone thing with Greg...I ended up sitting in a bar by myself, purely out of boredom. Little did I realize at the time, but the bar I was sitting in was having a wake for the owner of the bar who had just died. I met a handsome guy named Shawn. We ended up going out that night. He stopped off at his place and came back out to the truck and gave me a $150 black hills gold ring. I know it cost that much cuz he forgot to take the price tag off of it. Anyway, we ended up going on a 4-5 day runner together. We had a blast!!!! OMG, like peas and carrots. Anyway, afterwards, Greg convinced me to give up drinking and I moved back to Alaska. Never saw Shawn again. I've driven by his place a few times and I've always wanted to knock on the door to see him. Well, last night I saw him. OK....lemme back up just a little bit here. Yesterday Tami, Mike and I took their new speed boat out on the river for a few hours. We cruised by this HUGE, GINORMOUS mansion like log house on the river. Tami said it was someone's place that she knew and that she had been in it. She said they were friends of hers and we'd be partying there this summer with the owners of that house and their friends. Can you guess who owns the house?? Shawn and his wife of one year. OK, so last night he walks in the bar to celebrate with his "crew"...my boss's "crew". He recognized me right off bat and told all his friends...."This is Rocket, the girl I've been telling you about for years!!" About 8 guys were like....REALLY?!?! Rocket, Oh, she's the one! I guess I'm like a local legend. So, there ya have it...my boss thinks it's hilarious and great at the same time that Shawn and I are back in the same town, even though he is married. All I'm saying, is I'm sure I'll be seeing lots of him. Not like that...he is a married man. Then again, so is Greg. Damn, I'm a magnet for unavailable men. I'm still looking for a boy toy. There's plenty out there from what I've noticed. Last time I bartended I was in the same situation...riding my bike everywhere and working hard and fast. No time to eat and be lazy. I got down to my perfect weight of 130 lbs. That's my goal for the next couple months.
Alrighty then. I had fun boating yesterday, I hope to do it every weekend. I'm feeling comfortable behind the bar now. Life is pretty good, except I'm very sore (my arms and feet). I'm also tired but I'll be able to sleep more during the week. At this rate, I hope to have my own place soon. Alright, time to hit the shower. Have a safe and Happy Memorial Day Weekend everybody! Can't wait to see my baby, Dale Earnhardt Jr. today!!! Go #8 Team! Love, Trixie

 TGIF

Well, I was a good girl last night. After dinner everyone went to bed. I watched some tv and drifted off to sleep. I woke up to see Kevin Costner and Jordan Sparks on Leno. He was kinda funny, it seemed to me that he had a hairpiece on or something. Don't get me wrong, I'm crazy about Costner, he's cute whatever he does. I love his laugh. His new movie coming out is going to be weird to watch, I think he plays a killer or something. He mentioned his days working as a deckhand in Alaska. Yah! He stayed at the Lodge I worked at back in 1997. I believe I wrote about that in an earlier post. Anyhooo, seeing Jordan Sparks was cool. She must have been going on pure adrenaline. After winning American Idol, she has been going non-stop. Good for her, she has an amazing life ahead of her.
Today I'm going to relax and read my bartender book. I've bartended for a few years in Alaska but it's been awhile. I'm sure it'll be like riding a bike. I'm just a little nervous now cuz it's a new place in a new town...new people. I wish my Streamer pals were here to have a few drinks on me! LUCY?!!! Where are ya girl? Biggie T??? C'mon ~ Let's git the party started! I tell ya, lately I've been checking out some new blogs and HOLY COW....seems like I'm in the same boat as a few of the ladies. In regards to the daily calls for phone sex, lol. Actually, I haven't heard from Greg in a week. I'm chalking it off to him getting ready to go to Alaska to climb Mt.McKinley this weekend. I hope to look amazing when he gets back in a month. Speaking of which, I'm reading the PEOPLE mag featuring Rikki Lake and her new body. WOW! She went from 250 pounds to 123. Absolutely Fabulous!! You go girl! I'm right behind ya. I've never crossed the 200 lb. mark but still, I've gained alot of weight in the past and I'm working on losing the remainder of it. It ain't easy like when I was younger. That's why I'm going to find me a young buck to help me. Wink, wink. I have my eye on that one I saw last night in my bar. Hopefully he comes back tonight. If not, I'm the 'new girl in town' for now. Better use that to my advantage. I'll keep y'all posted.
Have a safe and happy Memorial Day Weekend! I'm going to start celebrating my birthday week early this year, lol. Peace, my babies ~ Trixie

 Birthday present...

...to myself! I bought myself a bike today. I'm so proud of it. Noone better steal it, as I forgot to buy myself a lock. I'm living in a town of 1,500 - now..I know it's different than the city but still....I don't trust leaving it alone. I get attached to my belongings, I give them names...like my car Pepe. God, I miss Pepe. Anyway, Tami and I went for a bike ride earlier, it's been ages since I've gone on a bike ride. I had a blast! I need to give my bike a name (but first I need a lock for it).
I start the night shift tomorrow night. I'm excited. Tami and I stopped by the bar earlier and the cutest guy was there alone. I hope to see him again. I'm a sucker for brunette's. He had big, puppy-dog eyes too, Yum yum dim sum. Alrighty, my side dish is done and dinner is ready. Talk to ya soon. I gotta tell ya though....I don't have to work till tomorrow night and I'm feeling like going out. Now that I have transportation, hmmmmm? We'll see. Peace my babies ~ Love, Trixie

 Thursday morning

My first day at work was good. I made some drinks, went through opening procedures (although I'll be closing) and I cooked a burger and some garlic toast. My pals and ex's would get a good laugh seeing me cook. Actually, I've been trying to cook more in the past few years. I've done prep work at the fishing lodges I worked at, I got to watch some excellent chefs do their thang. All in the hopes it would rub off. Oh, and I can't forget how much I love that crock pot! I've been cooking dinner for Tami's family. She tells me what to do and I do it. I like being here with her and her family. She has her man, Mike and two sons, Nakoda and Walker, they are sweethearts but still boys. Nakoda is in training for the NAVY, he's 15 and Walker will be 13 in a week. I'm their Auntie Rocket.
ANyhooooo....Tami just came home and we're going to town. I'll write more later. Love Ya, Trixie

 Got a j-o-b! Weeeeeeeeee!

I got my work schedule today. I'm f/t and they hired someone else p/t. My set schedule will be Sat, sun, mon & tues nights and a few hours on wed morning. I wondered about that but then Denise explained that the other gal hired has a 6 year old and wants to work the other nights. Denise understands family life and since I don't have one, I'm going to have to be the 'flexible' one. That's fine, I'm just happy to have a job.
Sooooo, for the next week I'll be training (mainly nights) and then I'll have a few days off (including my birthday). June I'll work the regular schedule. Today I changed my addy and looked at a couple apts. Tomorrow I'll train at work and then open a bank account. All the while I'll actively be looking for a place to live. In this part of the country, there's lots of trailer rentals. I don't mind trailers, hey....no noisy neighbors stomping over ya or argueing next to you.
The trailers I've been in are nice. It's funny how different regions are. In Portland, everyone rents houses that were built in the early 1900's. The apt's I looked at today were ok, but expensive. I can stay here as long as needed but I want to get my own place and be able to get my life stable. I've gone through alot of changes lately. Whew.
I haven't heard from Greg since around wednesday or thursday. I left him a couple voice messages telling him I was going to be moving here. I figure he'll call one of these days. He leaves for Alaska on sunday. Gonna climb the highest mountain in North America, Mt. McKinley or Denali as the locals like to call it. Denali means "The Great One" in Native language. To me, the Great One will always be......#99 - Wayne Gretzky! Alrighty then, I have a friend coming over that I haven't seen in 6 years. Gotta go. Love Ya, Trixie
